Feelings towards The Lamb - Linda Gregg

This poem hits the heart of war veterans. It explains the aftermath of a battle and the pain one goes through. The poem focused more on the bright side rather than what was lost. It kept a "glass half full" attitude. The Lamb at the end expresses the innocence in most people during a time like this. They walk around the rubble of what once was and all they have left are memories.
Three of my favorite lines would be "The ruined city still seemed noble.", "The cathedral with its roof blown off was not less godly", and "walks a single lamb, tilting its head, curious, unafraid, hungry". These line are where the heart of the poem lay.

Exam Rewrite/Essay Paragraph

As similar as She’s the Man is to Twelfth Night, there is still one major theme missing from the plot. Shakespeare’s play is meant to be a comedy, and most of the comedy does not come from the main story. In order to compensate, Shakespeare created the character Malvolio and his 3 annoyances, Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and Maria. The mischief caused to Malvolio by Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Maria is what gives Shakespeare’s play its comedic element. In Fickman’s She’s the Man, Malvolio is not a character in the movie, but a pet spider. The three other mischievous characters are still in the movie, however, they do not follow the same plot to earn laughter as Shakespeare did. In fact, the three characters are completely detached from Malvolio in the movie. This is the only major difference when comparing the two pieces.

Tri 1 exam rewrite

Speaker: Malvolio
Person Spoken to: Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria

My masters, are you mad? or what are you? Have ye no wit, manners, nor honesty, but to gabble like tinkers at this time of night? Do ye make an alehouse of my lady's house, that ye squeak out your coziers' catches without any mitigation or remorse of voice? Is there no respect of place, persons, nor time in you?

What is going on when this passage is spoken?: Malvolio is yelling at Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, and Maria for being drunk and singing and making a ruckus. It's late at night and Malvolio wants to give them a hard time.

Comment: This is one of the examples of the on-going conflict and comedy that arises from these characters in Twelfth Night.
Perf: First Thoughts of Character

Character: Sir Toby Belch

I am playing Sir Toby Belch in my group presentation. In the scene we are presenting, Sir Toby is with 2 other characters and they are watching Malvolio make a fool of himself as he reads a letter forged by Maria. It is a comical scene and Sir Toby laughs at and mocks Malvolio. Two words to describe this scene would be mockery and comical. In order for me to express the way Sir Toby is feeling in the scene, I will maintain a grin and an attitude of mockery toward Malvolio. I have to remain hidden and watch Malvolio make a fool of himself. This scene should be fun.

The Lamb
by: Linda Gregg

It was a picture I had after the war.
A bombed English church. I was too young
to know the word English or war,
but I knew the picture.
The ruined city still seemed noble.
The cathedral with its roof blown off
was not less godly. The church was the same
plus rain and sky. Birds flew in and out
of the holes God’s fist made in the walls.
All our desire for love or children
is treated like rags by the enemy.
I knew so much and sang anyway.
Like a bird who will sing until
it is brought down. When they take
away the trees, the child picks up a stick
and says, this is a tree, this the house
and the family. As we might. Through a door
of what had been a house, into the field
of rubble, walks a single lamb, tilting
its head, curious, unafraid, hungry.

Character Throw Down

Twelfth Night
Orsino - Character throw down

In Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Orsino is the Duke of Illyria. He is introduced in the very beginning, Act I, Scene I. Going off his first few words, Orsino already comes off as a lady chaser. He is very full of himself and is sort of 'cocky' in a sense. he displays this in line 24, "And my desires, like fell and cruel hounds, E'er since pursue me." He is basically saying that his greatest desires (women) are chasing him like he is some sexy god. Another example of his narcissistic attitude is in line 39 when he mentions the "rich golden shaft". By "rich golden shaft", Orsino is making a penis joke. First impressions are always important and Orsino's is quite hilarious and it will be a fun ride to see how he turns out as the play goes on.

Introductions come first...

Hi, I'm Mike..

I've been going  to the North Broward high school since the 1st grade. Why I keep coming back, I do not know =P... There is a ton o to like about this school. For one thing, what other high school do you know of that has a café?! As a Senior here at North Broward, the café is open to us no matter what time of the day. Also, during lunch we are allowed to go off campus. Here I come Chipotle!

The school is just grand and the classes aren't half bad either. This year in English, I hope to discover new stories to learn about and go deep into what is being told. I wish to understand more about literature and how a great story is written and also how to find more great stories on top of that.

Being a Florida resident, my home life is not much different from my school life. I withstand the same heat year round, whereas some foreign kids get to return home on school breaks and experience their homeland weather. I know the Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, and Parkland areas very well. So well, that if I was to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere, I could probably find my way home =D.

A little bit about me... What do I like to do? I began playing baseball when I was 10 years old. I have played baseball for North Broward since the 9th grade and I plan on playing my Senior year. Unfortunately, in July, I fractured my 5th Lumbar Disc...basically i fractured my lower spine. I'm still not fully healed and I wont be until late this year =(.. Other then that, I love to fish and I am a huge gamer. Another thing about me is that I'm a huge Dragonball fan..... Yes, I know I'm a nerd =D......I also play golf, but I haven't played in a while and I miss the extremely hard sport. I used to play in tournaments and win too, but those days are over...it's more recreational at this point.

One last thing about myself.....I have a passion for music. I absolutely hate where the music industry has gone during this generation.. I despise all types of rap and all rappers and all the terrible Pop and hiphop music out there. To be fair, there is only one rapper that I enjoy and it's Eminem. Other than that, the rest are atrocious. I listen to all typs of rock. I favor heavy metal over the rest but anything with good guitar puts a smile on my face. I like country, classic rock, southern rock, hard rock, death metal, and some full on screamo. My favorite guitar player of all time, and my musical model it Buckethead. He is literally the BEST guitar play that God has bestowed on his people. His music strikes me at the heart. I can't even explain his music, you have to do yourself a favor and look him up on YouTube...Actually, don't even waste your time on YouTube, just download his music right off the bat!
